Musical Quarter-Repeating Auguste Meylan, Genève, No. 321. Made circa 1820. Fine and rare, large, quarter-repeating, musical, 18K gold pocket watch playing music on the hour or at will.
C. Four-body, "Empire", engine-turned with polished bezel and border, reeded band, bolt at 1 for locking the repeat, bolt at 6 for activating the music. Hinged gilt brass cuvette. D. Gold with black Arabic numerals on circular white enamel reserves intersected by engraved stylized leaves, white enamel outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 52 mm, gilt, fixed going barrels for the going and musical trains, cylinder escapement, brass three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, sur plateau musical movement with 29 tuned blued steel teeth playing on both sides of the pinned disc, music/silence lever protruding from the cuvette. Front plate punched AM and numbered 321. Diam. 57 mm.
