Notes

RockfordRockford was established after the failure of the Cornell Watch Company, whose equipment was purchased in 1873 and moved to a new factory on the bank of the Rock River in Rockford, Illinois. Two years later the Rockford Watch Company began making watches. In 1876, its production was relatively small-10 watches per day. Fifteen years later, however, at the height of its production, Rockford was producing 150 watches daily. Rockford's superintendent was a highly skilled worker who had worked for Te United States Watch Company, which explains why their first full-plate keywind movements were very similar to those of the US Watch Co. Like other companies of the time, Rockford focused on targeting the railroad trade. In 1896, the company experienced financial difficulties and fell into receivership. Its name was then changed to the Rockford Watch Company, Limited, which lasted until 1915, when production ceased.
