American Waltham Watch Co., Waltham, Mass., No. 3037530, circa 1886.Very fine and rare, 14K gold, keyless, hunting-cased watch with a chronograph and five-minute repeater.
C. Four-body, "Empire", massive, box-hinged, polished covers with engraved edges, vermicelli band, gold hinged cuvette. D. white enamel, Roman numerals, outer minute and fifth-seconds ring with five-minute Arabic minute/seconds markers, sunk subsidiary seconds. Blued steel "Parallel Spade" hands. M. 18 size, nickel, 3/4 plate, damascened, 17 jewels in settings, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, golchronograph wheels, safety pinion.Signed on the dial and movement. Movement also engraved, "Pat. Sept. 28.80. Eng. Pat. No.3224", "Patd. August 23rd 1887",Diam.53.6 mm.
