Markwick, Markham, Borrell Triple-Cased Watch Markwick, Markham, Borrell, London, No. 23052. Made for the Islamic market, circa 1810. Gilt brass and tortoiseshell, triple-cased pocket watch.
C. Outer: two-body, overlaid with tortoiseshell with pique decoration. Second: Two-body, polished and engraved with scrolls, crescents and flowers, faux hallmarks. Inner: Two-body, polished, faux hallmarks. D. White enamel with Islamic numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel beetle and poker hands. M. 42.5 mm., gilt-brass, full plate, pierced vase pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance, flat balance spring, single footed foliate pierced and engraved balance cock, silver regulator scale with Islamic numerals. Dial erroneously signed, movement signed, cases with imitation British hallmarks. Diam. 81 mm.
