Spreat Half-Quarter Repeating Watch J. H. Spreat, Manchester, No. 719. The case with London hallmarks for 1863-1864. Very fine and rare, half-quarter repeating, 18K yellow gold and enamel, half-hunting cased pocket watch with a heavy three-strand gold chain and fob with carnelian matrix engraved with a crest.
C. Four-body, bassine, polished, the front cover with light blue champlevé enamel radial Roman umerals and inner minute track, the back cover with a blue, red and white champlevé enamel monogram and crest with the motto ?Ultra Aspicio?. Hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. M. Swiss, 17???, frosted gilt, three-quarter plate, 12 jewels in screwed chatons, fuse and chain, English-type lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with overcoil, diamond endstone, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 52 mm.
