Notes

Having first inspired Cartier in the 1920s, the Orient fascinated many artists of the Art Deco period (Egyptian art was also a favorite). This clock is a perfect example of a chinoiserie-based inspiration and it is particularly striking for its theme, as well as the use of red enamel and its excellent condition.
