Michl Gfrerer Painted Dial Large Pair-Cased Watch Michl Gfrerer in Gratz (Graz). Made for the Eastern market, circa 1830. Fine, large, silver and red lacquer pair-cased watch with painted dial and paste-set movement.

C. Outer: two-body, lacquered in imitation of tortoiseshell and with pique decoration. Inner: two-body, polished. D. Small white enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outer border polychrome painted with a scene of a King enthroned in his palace, the sun above and stars below on a blue ground. Pierced gilt hands. M. 64 mm., gilt brass, full plate, the back plate set with 17 faceted red pastes and with foliate engraving, fancy ringed pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, silver regulation dial. Signed on the dial plate edge. Diam. 101 mm with outer case.
