Mathieu Detent Pocket Chronometer Mathieu à Paris, Place de la Bourse, 12. Made circa 1840. Fine and rare, 18K gold, keyless pocket chronometer with detent escapement.
C. Four-body, bassine et filets, polished, coin-edge band. Hinged gold cuvette with aperture for the folding winder. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 42 mm., 19''', gilt brass, bar calibre, 9 jewels, footed spring detent escapement, blued two-arm bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature screws, bluedsteel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed. Diam. 47 mm.
