Billinghurst - Judgement Of Paris Henry Billinghurst, London. Made circa 1765. Fine and rare, quarter-repeating, 22K gold repoussé and diamond-set pair-cased pocket watch.
C. Outer: two-body, repoussé, by TY (master mark), finely chased with a scene of the Judgement of Paris, scroll border, pierced sound holes, the bezel decorated to match, thumbpiece set with a large rose-cut diamond. Inner: Two-body, ?bassine? by HB (master mark), deep back, the band finely pierced and engraved with foliage and a grotesque mask. Gilt brass dust cap. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with large five-minute Arabic numerals. Pierced gilt hands. M. 32 mm, gilt full plate with tapered cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, cylinder escapement, brass escape wheel, three-arm steel balance with flat balance spring, singlefooted cock, diamond endstone, finely pierced and chased backplate furniture, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Movement and dust cap signed. Diam. 47 mm.
