Tableau  musique French. Made circa 1860. Very fine, 8-day going, hour and halfhour striking musical clock painting with cuckoo bellows, the music playing every hour.

C. Giltwood framed oil on canvas, featuring a country church in a wooded landscape with figures in the foreground and a river beyond, the clock in the church tower. D. Silvered with Arabic numerals, outer minute track. Black steel hands. M. 11 cm, circular, brass with going barrels both for the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, brass bob pendulum with silk suspension, striking the hours and half-hours on a gong. 8 x 6 cm musical movement, cuckoo bellows to each side, brass bed with pinned brass cylinder, playing on tuned steel teeth in a single comb, brass fly governor. Clock movement punched ?MC?. Dim. 79 x 68 cm. In unrestored condition, requires overhaul and repair.
