Tavannes ? The Motor Car Tavannes Watch Co., Swiss, movement by Lugrin (La Chauxde- Fonds) No. 117831, case No. 62031, the case signed Holy Freres (St. Imier). Made circa 1910. Fine, square, quarter-repeating, silver pocket watch with highrelief depiction of the early years of motoring.
C. Three-body, square, polished, gilt bezel, the hinged back decorated with a high-relief medallion depicting an early motor car speeding along a road. Glazed gilt-rimmed cover over the movement. D. White enamel with Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel spade hands. M. 19???, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a button in the band, centrifugal governor. Dial signed Tavannes Watch Co., Movement signed ?AL? beneath the quarter hammer, case signed Holy Freres. Dim. 52 mm. square.
