Journe 1499-2, brass , rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, twin independent complete trains set on a single plate, 36 jewels, twin straight-line lever escapements, twin beryllium 4-arm balances with 4 adjustable timing weights, shock absorbers, self-compensating free-sprung Invar balance springs. One of the escapements is mounted on a small platform pivoting around the second wheel by means of rack and pinion to adjust the distance between the 2 balances in order to find the most efficient position for resonance synchronization. Cal. 1498, brass , rhodium plated, fausses cotes decoration, 25 jewels, lateral lever escapement with one minute tourbillon regulator with "A"-shaped tourbillon frame and polished steel bridge, monometallic 4-arm balance with 4 timing weights, self-compensating Breguet balance spring with Phillips terminal curve, constant-force remontoir with 18K gold wheel and blade spring, controlled by a spinning vane and armed once a second by the force of the mainspring, insuring a steady flow of power to the balance for a more constant timing rate. François-Paul Journe is a French watchmaker and was born in Marseille in 1957. After graduating from the Ecole d?horlogerie of Paris he worked as an apprentice for his uncle a well established clock restorer. In 1985 he established his own workshop in Paris creating timepieces for collectors. In 1988 after receiving the Bleustein Blanchet prize, he creates a sympathique clock for Asprey of London. In 1994, he is the laureate of the very prestigious Gaïa prize for best watchmaker. He established Montre Journe SA in 1999, launching FP Journe watch collection at the Basel fair that year. FP Journe had tremendous success in the last 10 years and has received numerous prizes from the Grand prix of Geneva, including the Aiguille d?Or in 2006 and 2008.
FP Journe set: This unique set was made for a prestigious New York retailer in 2004. It represents the entire FP Joune - ?Invenit et Fecit? collection at the time comprising of 6 watches in platinum with a champagne dial and fitted with the early brass movements which was discontinued in 2004. Each watch in the set are numbered 1000
A Chronograph from the Collection Octa introduced in 2001. The chronograph module is housed in a space less than 1mm thick.
B Lune from the Collection Octa introduced in 2003. That particular model was made in a small production for only one year with a moonphase indicator
C Chronomètre à Résonance from the Collection Souveraine introduced in 2000. A watch fitted with two balances, when both balances are in motion, they reach a state of "sympathy" through the effect of resonance and began to beat naturally in the opposite direction. The two balances therefore support each other, giving greater inertia to their movimient sent.
D Reserve de Marche from the Collection Octa introduced in 2001. The caliber was designed to maintain a diameter of 30mm and a thickness of 5.7 mm whatever complication is incorporated. It is the first automatic movement with a power reserve of 120 hours (5 days).
E Calendrier from the Collection Octa introduced in 2001. The annual calendar indicates date in two windows and the date advances automatically for months with 29,30 and 31 days. In non-leap year, the date is advanced manually.
F Tourbillon from the Collection Souveraine introduced in 1999. The watch is fitted with a remontoir, a system made of a constant force wheel which regulates the pressure of the escapement and ensures excellent stability of rating.
