Notes

Bobby Short (1924-2005) was a native of Chicago who rose to fame as a cabaret singer and pianist in New York in the 1940s. His charm and seemingly effortless elegance made him a popular stage and television performer. In 2000 the Library of Congress offered him their "Living Legend" award in recognition of his contributions to American cultural life. Short died of leukemia in March, 2005. The present lot was originally offered by Christie's New York as lot 218 in the "Personal Property of Bobby Short" auction held in February 2006.
