Orientalist Cloisonné Enamel Carriage Clock, French. Made in the Oriental style, circa 1880. Extremely fine and rare, gilt bronze, goldwire cloisonné enamel and parcel-gilt bronze, accompanied by satin carrying box and two keys.

Rectangular, two-body, entirely overlaid with cloisonné enamel, decorated with butterflies, cranes, blue birds, flowers and foliage in gold cloisonnes, gilt brass bezels for the dial, the back with door to hand-setting and regulation, parcel-gilt bronze Chinese temple dog finial on top, gilt-bronze monkeys as feet on the base with two screws to movement. D. Black Japanese numerals with brass border and sun pattern. Blued steel Orientalist hands. M. 46 x 36 x 21 cm., gilt brass with four ringturned pillars, lateral lever escapement on a silvered platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator.
