French Snuff Box With Erotic Scenes French. Made in the 19th century. Amusing, ivory, tortoiseshell and gilt brass snuff box set with a painted erotic miniature and a concealed erotic miniature inside.

Circular, two-body, ivory lined with tortoiseshell, the lid set with a painted miniature signed "HP" depicting an old gentleman with his dog following two young ladies, the dog having taken a bite out of one of the lady?s dresses, exposing her derriere, the interior with a further painted miniature depicting a priest and nun in segregated quarters, the nun reaching through the bars to enjoy the priest.
