French ? Carriage Clock with Limoges Enamel Panels French, No. 2397, retailed by Miller & Sons, Piccadilly (London). Made circa 1895. Extremely fine and very rare, gilt-brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking and repeating carriage clock with Limoges School Revival painted on enamel panels in the Renaissance style, and alarm.

C. Gilt-brass, anglaise riche, with Corinthian columns and dentilled cornice, beveled glass aperture in the top for viewing the escapement, hinged handle, each side set with a very finely polychrome painted on enamel and gold paillon Limoges School Revival panel depicting a guard in Renaissance costume, detachable back door with shuttered winding holes, button for the repeating on the top. D. Matte gilt with painted radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, alarm setting dial below with Arabic numerals, matte gilt dial mask. M. 89 x 64 mm., rectangular gilt brass plates, going barrels for both trains, lateral lever escapement on a silvered platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator, striking the hours and half-hours on a gong, separate alarm train with further hammer.
