Gold & Agate Quarter-Repeating à Toc Watch French. Made circa 1780. Fine and rare, quarter-repeating à toc, gold and agate pocket watch with original cylinder escapement.
C. Two-body, Louis XVI, polished bezel and band, the back carved from a single piece of striated mauve agate, paste-set thumb-piece. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals. Gold Louis hands. M. 27 mm., gilt full-plate, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, early-type cylinder escapement with 12 teeth, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, balance bridge with steel endplate, rack and pinion regulator, repeating on blocks inside the case band activated by depressing the pendant. Diam. 36 mm.
