The Flute Player French. Made circa 1820. Fine, small, gilt-bronze, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking mantel clock.
C. Square plinth housing the clock with reeded bezel and four paterae, surmounted by a lectern with a musical score, a flautist in renaissance costume to the right, a stool with guitar to the left, rectangular base with curved ends with dolphin and foliate mounts, conical feet. D. Silvered with radial champlevé Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, engine-turned center. Black Breguet hands. M. 7 cm, circular, gilt, going barrels for the going and striking trains, anchor escapement, silk suspension and brass bob pendulum, striking on a bell with outside countwheel. Dim. 24.5 x 18.5 x 8 cm.
