Japy Freres- The Country Larder Japy Freres, French, No. 4804. Made circa 1860. Fine, gilded metal, sculptural mantel clock with hour and half-hour striking. Accompanied by an ebonised wood base and glass shade.
C. Cast and gilded, a horse and farmer laden with game birds and a basket of eggs rest by a rustic hut containing the movement, tree branches behind, foliate scroll base. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel trefoil hands. M. 75 mm., gilt brass, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, spring suspension, brass bob pendulum, outside countwheel striking on a bell. Movement signed. Dim. 36.5 x 44 x 15 cm.
