Brockbank & Atkins ? Seven-Day Marine Chronometer Brockbank & Atkins, London, No. 1707. Made circa 1835. Fine, 7-day going, rosewood, marine chronometer with power reserve indication.
C. Three-tier box with flush brass handles, glazed middle section with vacant ivory plaque and hinged lid. Gimballed brass bowl. D. Silvered dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, large subsidiary seconds and power-reserve indication. Brass spade hands. M. Brass half-plate, relieved for the escapement, with cylindrical pillars secured by screws, reverse fusee with maintaining power, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement mounted within two plates, jeweled locking stone, two armed bimetallic compensation balance with two cylindrical weights and timing screws, diamond endstone, free-sprung blued steel helical balance spring. Dial diam. 125 mm. Dim. 21 x 21 x 23 cm.
