La Danseuse - Eight Tune Musical Box with Bells and Automaton Dancer Swiss, probably Geneve, No. 4018. Made circa 1870. Fine and rare, rosewood inlaid, painted and ebonized musical box with automaton dancer and four bells, playing eight tunes in sequence or repeat. To be sold without reserve
C. Rectangular, rosewood veneered, painted and ebonised with inlaid crossbanded stringing, hinged lid inlaid with a musical trophy. The interior of the lid with paper tune sheet, hinged and glazed cover to view the movement. M. Brass bed, going barrel with crank lever winding, pinned brass cylinder playing eight tunes on a steel comb with 43 tuned vibrating teeth, four bells with four hammers, a dancing doll between turning with the music, brass fly, levers for stop/start and change and repeat. Dim. Box: 42 x 22 x 26.5 cm.
