Vauchez - Gold & Enamel - Quarter Repeater Paillon Vauchez en la Cité a Paris, No. 1238. Made circa 1785. Very fine, dumb quarter-repeating, 18K gold and enamel pocket watch. Accompanied by a gold and enamel crank key.

Double-body, Louis XVI with concealed hinge, the bezel decorated with Royal blue and white enamel, the back with translucent Royal blue guilloche enamel and gold paillon scale decoration, outer border to match the bezel. D. White enamel with painted Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute markers, winding aperture at 2. Gilt beetle and poker hands. M. 35 mm, frosted gilt full-plate, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation scale, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 42 mm.
