Pendant Watch with Visible Balance Swiss, probably Geneva. Made circa 1810 and later. Fine, rectangular, 18K yellow gold and pearl-set lady?s pendant watch with visible balance.

C. Rectangular with canted corners, applied gold decoration, bezel set with pearls, polished back with winding, setting and regulating apertures, pearl-set suspension loop. D. White enamel with Arabic numerals and outer minute divisions, the balance below spinning against a polished steel plate. Blued steel scotties hands. M. 33 x 19 mm., brass, rectangular with canted corners, fixed barrel, Robin-type lever escapement, three-arm gold balance without balance spring. Dim. 40 x 25 mm.

This pendant watch was converted from a ring watch, probably in the late 19th century. The escapement, whilst being a replacement, is interesting and unusual. It is similar to the Robin escapement but with a detent spring to keep tension on the lever
