Unusual Safety Winding Swiss. Made circa 1890. Fine and rare, large 18K gold keyless free-sprung pocket watch with unusual safety winding feature.

C. Four-body, bassine, polished, the back cover with applied foliate monogram, slide in the band to activate winding. Hinged gold-rimmed glazed cuvette. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, subsidiary seconds. Gold spade hands. M. 21???, matte gilt, three-quarter plate, 19 jewels in screwed chatons, calibrated and counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, freesprung blued steel balance spring with terminal curve. Diam. 55 mm.
