Alfred Hof - Ladybird Mystery Clock Alfred Hof, Geneve, No. 58969. Made circa 1915. Very fine and rare, 8-day going, silver-gilt, agate and painted on enamel mystery table clock.
C. Octagonal polished agate base with silver-gilt toupie feet, curved circular body overlaid with translucent light blue guilloche enamel painted with nasturtium flowers. D. Off-white enamel with painted blue radial Roman hour numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, blue and gold translucent enamel center around which the ladybird rotates. Enameled ladybird pointer. M. 62 mm., matte gilt, 15 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with 3 adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Case and movement signed. Dim. 76 x 100 mm.
