Swiss - The Mandolin Swiss, Genève, No. 7931. Made circa 1800. Very fine and rare, 18K gold and enamel form watch with concealed dial, designed as a mandolin.
C. Two-body, "fermée" type, the sound-board with royal blue champlevé enamel, gold wreath and pale blue champlevé emamel sound-hole, the neck in alternating black and white enamel straps, the vaulted back with alternating sections of translucent blue enamel over flinqué and yellow, blue and black diaper pattern, gold twist-wire strings with pearl-set pegs, gold suspension chain. D. White enamel, Arabic numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 20 mm, hinged, gilt brass full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain three-arm brass balance, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulator plate. Dim. 57 x 27 mm.
