Founded in Paris in 1837, the House of Hermès built its reputation for excellence on its skill in making horse saddles. The Hermès watchmaking tradition dates back to the 1920's, when the firm's saddlemaking talent was first excercised on watch straps. In 1928, the first watches were presented in the company store at 24 Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. The Ateliers de la Montre Hermès was founded in Biel, Switzerland in 1978, leading to the creation of the Arceau, designed by Henri d'Origny and taking its name from a specific stirrup element. Since 2003, Hermès has designed and developed its own mechanical watch calibres, enriching the collection with a fine array of horological complications and fine craftsmanship. Arceau Le Temps Suspendu Only Watch Conceals time and erases it from the dial while continuing to register its ceaseless march. This new horological complication developed exclusively for Hermès is a world's first. The mechanics behind the illusion are created by an additional module, enabling automatic and spontaneous alternation between suspended time and standard time. The 360 degree retrograde hour and minute mechanisms make time disappear without interrupting the relentless running of the movement. Only
