GILBERT GOLD & ENAMEL QUARTER REPEATING À TOC Gilbert à Paris, No. 1038. Made circa 1765. Fine and rare, 18K gold, painted and champlevé enamel, quarter repeating à toc pocket watch.
C. Double body, Louis XV, entirely chased with a wave pattern, the back with champlevé translucent and painted on enamel fl owers, the bezel decorated to match. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and large Arabic fi ve-minute numerals. Paste-set hands. M. 38 mm., hinged gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain steel three arm balance, fl at balance spring, gilt brass pierced and engraved cock with polished steel end-piece, repeating on the inside of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed. Diam. 46 mm.
