S. SMITH & SON KARRUSEL, CLASS A KEW CERTIFICATE, ESPECIALLY GOOD 83-3 MARKS S. Smith & Son, 9 Strand, London, Makers to the Admiralty, No. 192-B10, the ebauche by Bahne Bonniksen. The case with London hallmarks for 1898. Very fine and rare, large, silver, half-hunting cased, keyless pocket watch with Bonniksen patented 52 1/2 minute Karrusel regulator, achieved Class A Certificate, Kew Observatory ?Especially Good?, with a score of 83.3 Marks.
C. Four-body, ?pommes et fi lets?, Master mark (SS), solid, polished, the front cover with blue champlevé enamel radial Roman numerals, inner minute track around the glazed aperture. Hinged silver cuvette. D. White enamel, by Marnham, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel double spade hands. M. 44 mm., 19 1/2???, frosted gilt, three-quarter plate, 17 jewels, going barrel, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with terminal curve, diamond endstone, mounted on a Bonniksen 52 1/2 minute Karrusel regulator. Dial signed and inscribed with the rating details, movement signed and punched with Bonniksen?s mark on the pillar plate. Diam. 56 mm.
