CARRIAGE CLOCK A LA JAPONAISE French. Made circa 1890. Fine, rare and unusual, gilt-brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking carriage clock with repeating and painted porcelain panels in the Japanese style.
C. Multi-piece, "bamboo", porcelain side and top panels decorated with polychrome Japanese scenes on an ivorycolored ground, hinged handle. D. Porcelain decorated to match the case panels, radial Japanese numerals. Gilt bamboo hands. M. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for the going and striking trains, lateral lever escapement on a platform, monometallic balance, blued steel fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on a gong. Movement punched with a ?B? within a circle. Dim. 16.4 x 12.5 x 11 cm. excluding handle.
