BOLVILLER EARLY CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH DETENT CHRONOMETER ESCAPEMENT Bolviller a Paris. Made in France, circa 1850. Fine and rare, early, center-seconds, gilt brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking carriage clock with repeat and spring footed-detent chronometer escapement.
C. One-piece case, foliate engraved, the sides and top glazed, engraved gilt-brass back door with shuttered winding and setting holes, hinged handle. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, polychrome painted with birds and fl ower swags. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular brass plates, going barrels for the going and striking trains, Earnshaw-type chronometer escapement with spring footed-detent on an engine-turned platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance with temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel helical balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on a bell. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 13.8 x 8.6 x 10 cm. excluding handle.
