Lambert, Ecole Nationale d?Horlogerie, No. 4093, circa 1900. Very fine model of an interesting unidirectional constant-force escapement.
Circular, 120 mm, frosted gilt, large going barrel, four-wheel train, based on a spring detent escapement with blued steel helical balance spring and three-arm plain brass balance. The constant force is delivered from a small helical spring mounted on the escape wheel arbor, colleted to a plate set on the third wheel arbor concentric with the escape wheel and studded on the escape wheel. When impulse is delivered during the short drop, the escape wheel releases a small locking lever which in turn releases a fly fixed to the last train pinion, which consequently releases the train, which winds the escape wheel helical spring. Round ebonized wooden base, glass dome. Signed inside the base, which also shows marks after a plaque. Dim. Height with the dome 28 cm, base diam. 19 cm.
