Le Pierrot Ecrivain Blancpain, Swiss, circa 1980. Very fine and rare musical automaton, with carrying box.

Dressed in white, Pierrot with white-painted face sits at a table, writing a letter, a small oil lamp on the table and a small ink bottle to the side. Holding a feather pen in his animated right hand, he appears to write a letter, his head following the pen as it moves across the paper. Pierrot falls asleep, his head drops and his eyes close. He wakes up, stretches out his hand to light the lamp, and continues to write, as the music plays the tune ?Au clair de la lune?. Activating pushbutton in his back, winding at his left side. Dim. Height 35 cm., length 35 cm.
