Dumergue, Angoulesme, France, circa 1690. Fine and rare large silver single-hand oignon watch with alarm.
C. Two-body, ?bassine? with deep back, pierced and engraved band, split bezel, polished back, loose ring pendant. D. Silver, large champlevé radial Roman numerals on matted background, half hour divisions, inner revolving alarm disc with Arabic numerals and steel hour pointer. Single blued steel alarm-setting hand. M. 49 mm, gilt brass, full plate with vase pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with large steel three-arm asymmetrical spokes to give room for the winding arbor, short flat balance spring, gilt brass Louis XIV balance cock, pierced and engraved with foliage and birds, Tompion-type rack and pinion regulator with silver plate, alarm with fixed pierced and engraved barrel, steel train, single hammer striking a bell fixed inside the case. Signed on the movement. Diam. 60 mm.
