C. Two-body, ?oignon?, box-hinged, polished. D. Matted gilt brass plate engraved with foliage. The three applied silver subsidiary dials show: on the right, the date with blued steel pierced hand; on the left, the age of the moon in the same way, and the phases of the moon inset in blued steel disc; below, the hours. At 8 o?clock aperture for the day and its governing planet, at 4 o?clock the month and the corresponding Zodiac sign. Blued-steel ?fleur-de-lis? hands. M. 43 mm. ø , pinned to hinged dial plate, gilt brass full plate, Egyptian pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass four-arm balance, blued-steel balance spring, large cock pierced and engraved with inhabited foliage, worm and wheel mainspring set-up, rack and pinion regulator with silver plate. Signed on the movement. Diam. 55 mm.

Complicated Oignon watches are rare. According to Tardy, Jean Duhard was active in Bordeaux between 1691 and 1718. A watch by Duhard of almost identical layout is in the Musée du Petit Palais, Paris.
