Markwick Markham, London, No. 12875, hallmarked 1752-53. Very fine silver tortoise covered triple-cased large watch, made for the Islamic market.

C. Outer: two-body, covered with tortoise and riveted with silver studs forming scrolling pattern on the bezels, middle: two-body, polished, inner: two-body, ?bassine? with deep back, polished. D. White enamel, radial Islamic numerals, outer minute ring with five-minute Islamic figures. Blued steel beetle and poker hands. M. 53 mm., hinged, gilt brass full-plate with lyre-shaped pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel tree-arm balance, flat balance spring, single-footed cock pierced and engraved with stylized foliage. Signed on dial and movement. Diam. 80 mm.
