C. Two-body, top panel very finely painted with an allegory of Comedy depicting a young woman holding a mask in her hand, others lying at her feet, behind, a violet drapery behind which two children are playing, gold frame chased with a repeated pattern, the edge with black and white champlevé enamel with gold flowers, the bottom part in predominantly dark blue translucent enamel over elaborate engine-turning with corners in white, azure and black champlevé enamel, the base with dark blue translucent enamel over elaborate engine-turning, black and white champlevé frame with gold acanthus leaves. Inside to the right, compartment for the musical movement covered with engine-turned panel, to the left ?snuff? compartment. M. Rectangular, 53 x 31 x 13.5 mm., top plate gilt brass, lower brass, full plate, pinned drum with two stocks of 15 tuned teeth each, one stock with grasshopper teeth, 5-wheel train. Dim. 90 x 61 x 23 mm.

Frères Nicole à Genève Watchmakers and makers of musical pieces who later became specialized in musical pieces and musical boxes. 1828-1835. They signed a petition for the construction of a new Observatory in Geneva in 1829.
