Le Roi et Fils, Swiss, movement by Luigi Luraschi, circa 1820. Fine and unusual 18K rose gold three-train, petite et grande sonnerie clockwatch, quarter-hour trip repeating watch with visible striking mechanism and special escapement.

C. Four-body, ?Empire?, back cover and band engine-turned, small slide at 1 o?clock on the band to block the repeating, hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 52 mm. (23???), full plate, gilt brass, ruby duplex escapement, gold, three-arm balance, blued steel balance spring with 5 1/2 coils, brass escape wheel, lever for change from petite to grande sonnerie extending into the case at 1 o?clock, ?striking/silence? lever at 10 o?clock, repeating train from the same barrel as striking, striking and repeating works mounted on the back plate allowing viewing the action, striking and repeating on gongs, repeating activated by tripping a button in the pendant. Signed on the dial by Le Roi, on dial and movement by Luraschi, case stamped ?FHM 3234 KIR? in a typical manner for Neuchatel casemakers. Diam. 58 mm.

An excellent example of a complicated watch from the beginning of the nineteenth century. Since the engraving ?Luigi Luraschi? on the movement was done before finishing the plate with fire-gilding, the watch must have been made for a special order.
