Notes

This watch belonged to a captain in the French Merchant Marine. The back is entirely inscribed with the dates and names of the places visited by the owner, beginning with a South American expedition in 1821, going on to ?Chili, Perou, Brésil?, through the ?Campagne d?Alger?, and finishing in 1852 in Mar de Plata. The center is inscribed ?Souvenir du Capitaine A. Gachot, à F. Juteau?. It is very rare to find a watch whose history and travels are so well documented.
