Three-body, oval within rose-cut diamond and seed pearl-set frame, the glazed back with ivory inset painted with a fine blue and white miniature in Art Nouveau style of Venus and Cupid on the back and probably the Bath of Diana in the front. D. Ivory, painted miniature in matching style, delicate white Arabic numerals. Blued-steel Breguet hands. M. Cross-shaped, 10???, matte-gilded, 18 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut- bimetallic compensation balance, blued-steel Breguet balance spring, frosted winding wheels, crown-set. Signed on both ivory panels, movement stamped ?Brevet S.G.D.G.? referring to the patented cross-shape. Dim. 32 x 41 mm.

Fernand Paillet (Niort 1840 - Paris 1918) A pupil of Carrier-Belleuse, he was known for his watercolors and portraits on enamel and porcelain. Exhibited at the Salon de Paris of 1873 and, between 1879 and 1888, he worked in the porcelain factory in Sèvres.
