J. Strauss, Horlogerie de Precision, 18 bis Boulevard des Italiens, Paris, Swiss, circa 1885, made for a Spanish customer and dedicated ?Marzo 8 de 1874?. Very fine 18K gold, hunting-cased, keyless minute-repeating astronomical watch, with moon phases, perpetual calendar and chronograph.
C. Four-body, solid, ?variée?, front cover with applied initials, bezels with reeded edges, gold hinged cuvette over gold bezel glazed for viewing the movement. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, outermost chronograph scale, four subsidiary sunk dials for days of the week, date, months of the leap year cycle and subsidiary seconds concentric with phases of the moon aperture. Subsidiary sunk seconds. M. 45 mm.(20???), nickel, ?fausses côtes? decoration, 35 jewels, straight line calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, Breguet balance spring, repeating on gongs, slide on the band. Signed on the cuvette. Diam. 58 mm.
