Palemon and Lavinia LeRoy, Swiss, No. 2115, made for the Chinese market, circa 1830. Very fine and rare 18K gold pearl-set painted on enamel musical center-seconds quarter-repeating watch with music on the hour or on demand.
C. Four-body, ?bassine?, back with finely painted on enamel scene depicting the scene of Lavinia receiving the letter, bezels with two waves of azure and translucent enamel set with pearls, pearl-set pendant and bezel, gold hinged cuvette decorated with champlevé enamel in inhabited foliage pattern. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with fifteen-minute Arabic markers. Gilt ?fleur de lis? hands. M. 50 mm., frosted gilt, going barrel, cylinder escapement three-arm gold balance flat balance spring, music with double-pinned disk with tuned teeth, repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Signed on dial. Diam. 57 mm.
