CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH LIMOGES ENAMEL PANELS French, No. 1669. Made circa 1880. Very fine and rare, gilt-brass, 8-day going, hour and half-hour striking and repeating carriage clock with Limoges School Revival grisaille painted on enamel panels in the antique style.
C. Gilt-brass, molded, with outset fl uted and foliate columns, beveled glass aperture in the top for viewing the escapement, foliate hinged handle, the top engraved with a Baronne?s coronet above a coat of arms, each side set with a very fi nely en grisaille painted on enamel and gold highlighted Limoges School Revival panel depicting on one side a gentleman and on the other a lady in 17th century costume, glazed back door, button for the repeating on the top. D. Finely painted grisaille and gold Limoges enamel with gold radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, the corners decorated with strapwork and a female mask below issuing fruit cornucopia. M. Rectangular gilt brass plates, going barrels for both trains, lateral lever escapement on a silvered platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking the hours and half-hours on a gong. Dim. 15.5 x 10.8 x 9.6 cm. Excluding handle.
