QUARTER STRIKING CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH PAINTED PORCELAIN PANELS French, retailed by Clasens Lunardi, 1 Rue de Choiseul, Paris, No. 1893. Made circa 1910. Fine gilt-brass, Petite Sonnerie, 8-day going carriage clock with repeating, alarm and painted porcelain dial and panels. Accompanied by the fitted travelling box and key.
C. Gilt-brass, anglaise, fl uted columns, stepmolded top and base, the sides with painted porcelain panels, one decorated with a couple in 18th century dress walking in a garden, the other with a young couple watching two billing doves in a country landscape, the top, front and back door glazed, hinged fl uted handle. D. Painted porcelain with radial Roman numerals on an ivory-colored chapter ring, outer minute track, decorated with a scene of a gentleman and a lady seated in a landscape. Blued steel spade hands. M. Gilt brass, rectangular plates, four pillars, going barrels for both trains, lateral lever escapement on a gilt platform, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on two gongs, separate alarm train with further hammer and silvered setting dial on the backplate, quarters/silent lever in the base. Dial signed. Dim. 13.5 x 10 x 9.2 cm.
