L?EPEE, BAMBOU LIMITED EDITION CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH CALENDAR, MOON PHASES & ALARM L?Epée, France, No.032/100. Made in a limited edition of 100 examples in the late 20th century. Fine, gold-plated and lapis lazuli, 8-day going, hour and halfhour striking, repeating carriage clock with day-date calendar, alarm, moon phases and lunar calendar. Accompanied by a fitted L?Epée box and key.

C. Gold plated, polished, stepped base and top, turned fi nials, pillars with four lapis lazuli inserts on each, glazed sides and back door, the top glazed to view the escapement, hinged carrying handle. D. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic fi ve-minute numerals, alarm setting, date and days of the week dials below, aperture for the moon phases with lunar calendar on the periphery. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. Rectangular, gilt brass, four pillars, going barrels both trains, 11 jewels, straight-line platform lever escapement, monometallic balance, self-compensating fl at balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on a gong, separate alarm train with further hammer. Dial and movement signed, case numbered. Dim. 14.3 x 10.7 x 9.5 cm. excluding handle.
