REBOUL ? LOUIS XVI QUARTER REPEATING WATCH WITH ORIGINAL CHATELAINE Reboul à Paris. Made circa 1780. Very fine and rare, quarter-repeating, gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set watch with original matching gold and painted on enamel châtelaine.

C. Two-body, "Louis XVI", the back fi nely painted on enamel with a couple in a landscape by an altar of love, outer chased leaf border highlighted with green enamel and set with rose-cut diamonds,band chased with repeated pattern, rose-cut diamond-set bezel. Châtelaine: of four panels of enamel on gold, gold spoon, the top panel painted en suite with the watch, the three smaller panels with painted on enamel panels of a woodland, doves and a dog by a basket of fl owers, all within en suite frames and four chains, one for the key. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic fi veminute numerals. Elaborate hands. M. 32 mm, frosted gilt full-plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, brass balance with fl at balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, repeating on a bell in the back of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed, chatelaine punched with mastermark PG beneath a crown. Diam. 41 mm.
