EROTIC PATCH BOX French, the miniatures attributed to Jacques Charlier (1706- 1790). Made circa 1760. Silver, mother of pearl, abalone shell, rococo, doublesided patch box fitted with two erotic painted on ivory watercolour miniatures.

C. Three-body, hinged cover on each side set with an engraved mother of pearl panel decorated with fruit on a diaper background within an asymmetric scroll border, the interior of the upper lid set with a watercolor painted on ivory miniature of Pan and a naked nymph, the base of the interior overlaid with a geometric parquetry panel of engraved mother of pearl and abalone shell, the interior of the lower lid set with a fi nely watercolor painted on ivory miniature depicting a naked couple in a landscape with a putto looking on. Dim. 59 x 52 x 26 mm.
