THREE EROTIC SNUFF BOXES ?LES FEMMES ET LE VIN? French. Made circa 1820. Fine, two carved burlwood snuff boxes and a tortoiseshell snuff box with concealed erotic scenes.

A: Circular, three-body, the lid carved with a scene of a warrior putto in a landscape, the base with a basketweave pattern, the interior with a colored print entitled ?Les Femmes et le Vin? concealed beneath a tortoiseshell liner. Diam. 67 mm. B: Circular, three-body, the lid carved with a scene of the exterior of a tavern, indistinctly titled, the base with a basketweave stripe pattern, the interior with a colored print depicting two soldiers and a lady concealed beneath a horn liner. Diam. 74 mm. C: Circular, three-body, polished tortoiseshell, the interior with a colored print depicting a lady sitting on a priest?s knee concealed beneath a tortoiseshell liner. Diam. 64 mm.
