SILVER SINGING BIRD BOX Attributed to Griesbaum, Germany. Made circa 1950. Fine, rococo-style, silver and painted-on enamel singing bird box. Accompanied by a key.
C. Two-body, serpentine rectangular, cast silver, the sides chased with vignettes of musicians and musical trophies, the top depicting musicians in a woodland setting, the bird cover painted with two cherubs in the clouds, one playing the lute, the other holding the music, bird-form activation slide, the back with hinged key compartment. M. Rectangular brass, going barrel and rectangular bellows, the revolving bird with moving wings, tail and beak, controlled by two cams mounted beneath the barrel wheel, gilt brass grill pierced and engraved with foliage. Dim. 6.8 x 4.0 x 10.6 cm.
