TERROT & FAZY - THE ALTAR OF LOVE Ph(ilippe) Terrot & Fazy à Genève, No. 17829. Made circa 1780. Fine, Louis XVI, 18K gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set pair-cased pocket watch with a short gold chain with key and tassel.

Outer : Two-body, "Louis XVI", the back centered by an oval painted on enamel medallion with a scene of a lady at the altar of love and two doves, red translucent enamel background over sunray engine-turning, light blue outer border with white enamel dots, chased gold border with leaves and a repeat pattern, bezel decorated to match and set with rose-cut diamonds, thumb-piece set with a diamond. Outer : two-body, bassine, polished. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic fi ve-minute numerals. Pierced silver diamond-set hands. M. 31 mm, hinged, gilt brass, pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with fl at balance spring, pierced and engraved balance cock with single foot, faceted red endstone, silver regulation dial. Movement signed. Diam. 41 mm.
